Breakdown: Star

This exercise is called Star. It is the last of the balance control series found within the advanced classical reformer repertoire. It basically is a glorified side plank with a moving platform, a balance and strength challenge and range of motion.

If you haven't attempted this one before, definitely use a spotter and be sure that you are ready! There are so many exercises within the method that will build up to this one on the reformer.

Set yourself up for success! Prep with 2 springs so you can be sure to control the balance of your body and the movement of the carriage simultaneously. If you're feeling good, pop down to just one spring (the spring setting this is traditionally done on).  The scapula and the chest have to be strong while holding the shoulder and arm in proper alignment.
