Raven Rock State Park

When I'm not in the studio, I love to be outdoors with my husband, family and friends. We checked out Raven Rock State Park in Lillington, NC. It's about an hour from Raleigh and a quick trip down US1. When you go, you must do the Raven Rock Trail. It's a diverse trail offering sweeping views of the Cape Fear River, many species of plant life including the beautiful rhododendron all leading up to 135 wooden stairs to see the namesake of this trail; The Raven Rock.

It is quite spectacular and a view not to be missed. The trail is relatively easy, not many roots and the staff does a great job keeping the ground cover off the trail.

After a short walk on the well kept trail, you descend down a wooden staircase to the Raven Rock. You can continue to the left to see a gorgeous tangle of roots and more rock face. I recommend bringing a hammock and a book so you can enjoy the sounds of nature, the river and beautiful views! IMG_5634-1
